DIY Button for your Scrapbook

Timeless Portrait scrapbook page by Ida Chan
There's just 2 days left before the retiring items are gone forever. I've been trying to scrapbook as much as I can with these retiring items. One item I will miss for sure is the Timeless Portrait Designer Series Paper.
This scrapbook page is made to remember the silly times my friend, Kelly and I had when we thought we made it to the Ninja Temple. After posing ninja poses outside a temple, a monk comes out to tell us we were at the wrong time.
Scrapbook page with DIY button by Ida ChanIn this layout, I made my own fabric buttons. It's very simple!

Here's how.
Take a button, trim enough Sticky Pages to cover the button, then trim enough fabric to cover and wrap around the button. TA-DA! this adds a new type of texture to your pages and cards. Give it a try!

You still got 2 days left to get your retiring items! Check out my shopping page now to find items up to 70% off.

Retiring products open house

Stampin' Up! Vintage Vogue by Ida ChanI'd like to start today's post by thanking all those who came out (even during the long weekend) to my Retiring product open house last weekend. It was a fun afternoon of crafting and chatting. I always love the feeling of being able to inspire others with my projects.
If you haven't been to my open houses or workshops, contact me and we can arrange an event exclusive for you and your friends.

Besides a fun afternoon of chatting and demonstrators, we did make and takes!

Stampin' Up! Vintage Vogue by Ida ChanWe made a simple single-layered card using the retiring Vintage Vogue stampset and the Curvy Verses stampset. The Vintage Vogue stampset is one of the stampsets that I will miss the most on the retiring list. It will definitely be one of the sets that I will keep for sure. Not only is it elegant but also it was a stamp set that Shelli Gardner came to use when she was at my Workshop of a Lifetime in my living room.
What is your favourite retiring stamp set?

Remember you only have until May 31, 2012 to order your favourite retiring items!

No stamping First Communion card

It was my God-daughter's first communion last weekend. And it sure is tough to make religious cards with limited Stampin' Up! products that are geared towards religious celebrations.

That was not a problem when my Big Shot came to save the day. Adding emboss on any card gives a whole new different language in communicating congratulations!

Kudos to emobssing folders! and congratulaions to Chloe on her first communion!! She loved the card!

My scrapbook sequence

Where do you put your photos that are waiting to be scrapbooked?

I put mine in a photo album. But even the simpliest looking store-bought photo album needs work. I covered the front of my photo album with a piece of chipboard and dressed it up with a the Timeless Portrait designer series paper then accessorized and stamped the rest.

I decorate my photo album so I can be inspired to pick up the album and scrapbook the photos inside.
So today, as inspired by the album cover page, I started my scrapbook layout with the Timeless Portrait designer series paper (as found on the retiring accessories list.)

With this layout, I wanted to highlight the sequence of tagging two "lucky stumps" at a temple in Japan. There's a saying where if you tag the stumps 100 times, your dreams will come true. Too bad I didn't finish the 100 tags.

Perhaps if I flip to this page 100 times my dreams will come true.
